This car is currently available in Petrol as well as CNG version.
Can this car be converted to LPG/ CNG?
NO. This car cannot be converted into LPG/CNG. Converting to CNG or LPG would void the warranty.

The Nano eMax powered by CNG has been launched on the 8th of October 2013.

At the moment, there is no diesel Nano available

The battery in this car is located below the driver seat.
Where is the spare wheel located? How can this be accessed?
The spare wheel is located under the bonnet.
How does the rear engine get cooled?
Two scoops are provided on either side of this car. These scoops allow for cooler air to enter as the car moves and help in engine cooling.
Why are front and rear tyre specifications different in this car?
The overall diameter of both the front and rear tyres is the same. The engine is located at the rear in this car. Hence, to take care of the larger rear load, rear tyres are wider than the front tyres. They also help maintain the slip angle while turning at higher speeds and to achieve good drivability and handling characteristics.
What should be the tyre pressure I should maintain in the Nano - for each of front and rear tyres?
The recommended tyre pressure is:
Front tyre: 26 psi and Rear tyre: 28 psi
Are the tyres tubeless?
Yes, all the tyres in this car are tubeless.
What about the spare tyre in the Nano? Can it be used at the rear & front?
The spare tyre in the Nano is same as the front tyre i.e. 135/70R12. There is absolutely no concern in case the rear tyre gets punctured. The spare tyre can be fitted at the rear. However, the following precautions need to be taken: In such a case, drive the vehicle at not more than 40-60 kmph, drive cautiously at sharp turns; especially in ghats while driving with the spare tyre fitted at the rear. It is recommended that you replace the spare tyre fitted at the rear with a standard rear tyre at the nearest service station.
Why does the Nano have its fuel filler under the bonnet?
Unlike other cars which have their engine in the front, the Nano has its engine at the rear with the fuel tank in the middle. This helps in achieving an increased interior space with optimized volume to weight ratio. The fuel filler cap is found under the bonnet as it saves costs of having a separate fuel filler flap and lock on the fuel filler cap, and also as it is under the bonnet, it is more secure.
What is the Power-to-weight ratio in this car compared to the competition?
The Power-to-weight ratio in Nano is ~63 PS/ ton which is higher than that of any other level car in the Indian market (It is ~56 PS/ton for Maruti 800).
Will this car be available in BS4 norms?
Yes the Nano is already available with BS4 norms.

This car gives a mileage of 25 KMPL (as certified by ARAI). However, while driving the car in the city, the fuel mileage may vary depending on driving conditions. The ARAI test for mileage is a laboratory test that simulates a typical driving environment. In the test the car is subjected to accelerate, brake, stop and change gears to replicate real life driving conditions over a specified distance.
How do I ensure that I get optimum fuel efficiency with my Nano?
Driving in the wrong gear can dramatically increase fuel consumption. Driving in the correct gear at the right speed helps improve fuel efficiency.
Why am I not getting the same mileage as declared by the company?
The values displayed by the companies are based on the test results obtained at approved agencies under ‘Standard Test Conditions’ amongst many parameters which includes standard (non-adulterated) fuel, 2 persons in car, AC switched off, gear changes in a pre-determined pattern & at pre-determined acceleration levels, standard tyre pressure, wind speed etc.
Why do I get lesser mileage while driving in the city than on the highway?
The mileage may differ in the city due to slow moving road and traffic conditions, increased idling times, shorter trip distances, more start-stop driving conditions and increase in AC usage.
While refueling, why does the tank take in a few litres more than its maximum capacity?
The tank has air space to allow fuel expansion in extreme heat conditions. By continuing to fill the tank after the filler gun automatically shuts off, the fuel enters the air chamber. Overfilling the tank can be dangerous and can result in fuel leakage due to expansion.
What is the CO2 emission of the Nano?
The CO2 emission of the Nano is only 94 g/km which is the least for a Petrol car in India and makes the Nano the most environment friendly petrol car in India.
What is the turning radius of this car?
The Nano has the lowest-in-class turning radius of just 4 meters - compared to 4.4 meters on the Maruti 800 and 4.6 meters on the Alto. This indicates that the car can be maneuvered easily, making it a good city car. Getting in and out of parking slots is also easier with the Nano.
What is the top speed that this car can achieve?
The top speed that can be attained on this car is 105 kmph. This is electronically limited for safety reasons.
Is it a rear or a front wheel drive?

The engine is in the rear side, and hence Nano's performance is not as good as front-drive vehicles. Is this true?
No. Infact most high performance cars and sports cars are rear-wheel drive cars and not front wheel drive cars.

Why is there noise at the rear of the Nano?
Unlike a regular car that has its engine in the front the Nano has its engine at the rear. However the Nano is well insulated and hence the Noise does not filter into the cabin. The Nano now has improved NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) levels.
How do we check the oil levels in the car?
To check the oil level in the Nano, we need to access the engine compartment behind the rear seat.
How do we know if there is an overheating in the car?
In case the car is overheating, a warning light will show on the instrument cluster.
How far can the Nano be driven without any problems & is it ok to drive the Nano on highways and hilly regions?
The Nano is entirely safe to drive on the highway. There are a number of customers who have taken Nano on cross country runs and car has performed well.
Owners have been driving their cars over the length and breadth of the country from Kanyakumari to Khardungla without any problems. Recently the nano was driven for 26000 km’s for over 70 days, in which the nano also crossed the highest motorable pass in the world at 18380 ft- Khardung_La pass.
Also the Nano has a gradeability of 30% which allows it to drive on steep slopes with ease.
